How should I wash and care for my hair extensions?

Hair extensions are incredible and fun for adding volume and length to your natural hair!

With the many options available online:

From high end 100% Remy, raw, and virgin human hair extension with naturally occurring textures including curly, wave, and straight.  Mainly two color choices; natural black and darkest brown  #2. Can be colored, bleached or dyed if desired. Good choice for long-term use.

If you decide to purchase from a high-end brand like Endless Hair Extensions, you will find that you do not have to worry about whether you can shampoo or wash your extensions regularly or not since there is no silicone to wash away.

  • A good rule of thumb is to wash them after 4-6 wearings to prevent the natural buildup of dust and grime.
  • This can be done in a bathroom or kitchen sink or basin.
  • If you wish to dye or bleach your extensions, use a sulfate free shampoo to prevent damage to the colored hair. The sulfates may also cause unwanted frizziness (especially in curly hair).
  • Brush your extensions as you would your own hair before and after shampooing and daily to prevent tangling or breakage.
  • You can use your fingers to remove larger tangles and then a wide tooth comb or brush to finish.
  • Simply treat your hair extensions as you would your own natural hair and avoid extreme practices that would otherwise cause damage to the extensions (excess heat, ripping hair with a brush, etc)

To low-end synthetic extensions with a multitude of steam or chemical created textures and colors to choose from! Even though these are most likely not Remy nor virgin hair, you can have a lot of fun without spending a lot of money. Great for short-term use.

If you choose to purchase a lower end brand of non-Remy hair extensions or synthetic extensions, please follow the brands/manufactures washing and shampooing directions and advice for Synthetic or non-Remy extensions.
  • Usually, these type of extensions have a shorter lifespan and cannot be washed or shampooed as often as you might wish too.
  • Non-Remy hair will end up with the silicone being washed off relatively soon resulting in the possibility of replacing sooner but are relatively cheap to replace.
  • A good rule of thumb is to wash them after 4-6 wearings to prevent the natural buildup of dust and grime. This can be done in a bathroom or kitchen sink or basin with the manufacturers recommended soap.
